AOC & HOUSEKEEPING INFORMATION

General introduction and welcome to online sessions

Team trainings, meetings, webinars, etc.

The following things are generally used at the beginning of team trainings, online meetings, webinars, etc.

Acknowledgement of Country

Adjust this when and if needed accordingly - especially if certain locations are involved but not included below

I’d like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we are joining this training, the Jagera (pronounced “Yuggera”) people and the Turrbal people of Meanjin, also known as Brisbane, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, known as Sydney, and Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, otherwise known as Melbourne. We pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging.

Education has been happening on all of these lands for thousands of years. Today, we get to continue and contribute to that in our own unique way.

general housekeeping at beginning of online meetings

Let's make sure our video is on, our microphone is muted unless speaking, our phones are on silent to avoid distractions, and if something does arise which means you need to temporarily step out let us know before doing so.

I will let everyone know, even though by now you have been notified, that this meeting / webinar is being recorded for use down the track (people that can’t be with us now, training purposes, etc.) however only the speaker will be recorded. If you speak that means you will appear on the recording, but majority of this recording will be of HOST.

That's all from me for now, thank you all and I will now pass back over to *host* to kick us off.

Welcoming, introduction and housekeeping at beginning of webinar

Welcome everyone and thank you so much for jumping on and joining like minded people for a great afternoon of learning.

Quickly, I’d like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we are joining this training, including the traditional custodians of the lands of which this workshop is being hosted from, the Jagera (pronounced “Yuggera”) people and the Turrbal people of Meanjin, also known as Brisbane. We pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging. Education has been happening on all of these lands for thousands of years. Today, we get to continue and contribute to that in our own unique way.

While coming from different schools and communities, I say it would be safe to assume that everyone here today is ready to be open minded, hungry to learn, and passionate about the development of leadership within your students at your school.

To get the most out of today please keep your camera on to engage and participate, microphone on mute to avoid background noise or echo, and bring a bit of joy and fun.

Today we will be running for X-amount of minutes, planning to wrap up by * FINISHING TIME *. If you have questions throughout the next couple of hours please write them down so you don’t forget them, and Luke will provide plenty of opportunities to ask these questions throughout.

Just to let everyone know as well, today’s webinar is being recorded. Don’t be concerned, only the speaker at anytime will be recorded, for example currently only I am being recorded, and throughout it will predominately be Luke, however if at anytime you do unmute your microphone to ask or answer any questions, or share anything throughout our time together, you will appear in the recording.

Luke has worked with students for his entire professional life, and has always had a passion for leadership. Bringing these two passions together, he has become a bit of a guru in the student leadership development space, particularly how you, as leaders, can develop leadership in students in your school. I am sure today there will be a lot to take away, and I will now hand to Luke to kick us off - Luke, over to you!
