As teachers, sometimes we are our own worst enemy when it comes to the expectations we place on ourselves. We care about what we do, we strive to meet the needs of our students and the job has no end.

Most school-based Growth Mindset interventions don’t work! I’ve been warning that the tide will turn on Growth Mindsets for many years. And it’s not because Mindsets aren’t important. They are. It’s because most of our interventions have taken the wrong approach, leaving schools disillusioned and dissatisfied with Growth Mindsets.

When we have the opportunity to use our strengths (the things we are good at and enjoy doing), we are more likely to feel confident, creative, satisfied and engaged (McQuaid & Lawn 2014).
