ASPIRE HIGHER DAY 2

AUSTRALIA'S MOST ENGAGING AND TRANSFORMATIVE STUDENT LEADERSHIP INCURSION

best FOR YEAR 5 OR YEAR 6 STUDENTS

Yesterday was amazing. The program for the kids was exactly what they needed. I saw students who generally do not even speak with one another working together. In the shout out portion of the day I also saw students giving positive affirmations to other students who they are not necessarily friends with and they do not hang out with or are not in their class. Both Cody and Thomas were friendly and enthusiastic while keeping the kids engaged and moving forward. The feedback from the students and staff who attended has been extremely positive. Thank you for such a beneficial workshop and such wonderful facilitators who led it and we look forwards to next year’s workshop.
— Acting Pastoral Middle Leader, St Francis College

"Aspire Higher 2" is a full day workshop, best suited for your whole year 5 or year 6 cohort. This is a high energy, high impact training, and it calls upon every student to contribute through their influence, strengths, teamwork and actions. The following sessions are the next steps along the leadership pathway for your students. It provides a deeper exploration of the themes we embedded through ASPIRE HIGHER. Many schools use this as a very effective format for a 3 day school camp.

ASPIRE HIGHER DAY 2 FULL WORKSHOP OUTLINE

  • SESSION 1- THE POWER OF INFLUENCE- What is influence? What difference can I make?

  • SESSION 2- T.E.A.M.S- Team building session with a focus on building synergy, communication and working together.

  • SESSION 3- BATTLE OF THE HOUSES- Action packed challenge in house groups (or in class groups).

One day, two day and 3 day camp options are available to Primary schools who want to invest in developing leadership skills and resilience in students.

The Team at UPP have been such an important part of our leadership program at St Joseph’s Mernda. Gil and Jamie ran an engaging and insightful day focusing on influence and leadership skills. The students were encouraged to interact with peers they wouldn’t usually and made a BFFT (Best Friend for Today). A direct result of this has been that our Year 6 students have been playing whole cohort games at lunch time, including those they wouldn’t usually. The energy, positive attitude and care really shows when Gil and Jamie are presenting and we look forward to working with them next year.
— Hayden Godbold, Year 6 Teacher St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School
Dylan and Rebecca were wonderful to work with yesterday. The students and teachers who attended the session were most impressed by the way the incursion unfolded, both in regard to the manner and competence of the presenters, and the content/experience offered.
— Rhys Bishop, Assistant Principal, Assisi Catholic College
The session was fabulous and all students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the event. Thank you so much as you always provide such a great experience for our school.
— Hedy Carvalho, Deputy Principal, St Simon the Apostle Primary School
Once again the program was fantastic and Gil and Jaime were amazing. The content met the needs of our students fit in perfectly with our year long inquiry “Who we are” which focuses on leadership. Both facilitators are to be commended for the way they interact with staff but most especially the students. Their enthusiasm was evident and they had high expectations of students. This was shown in respectful ways that created agency for our students in the actions they could take to move forward. I would highly recommend this to others.
— Julie Ryan, Year 6 Teacher/PLC Leader, Davis Creek Primary School

They were in control the whole time. Content was relevant and was appropriate to the students age. Would happily recommend the team from UPP to other schools looking to engage in a leadership day. Thanks again to Thomas, Dylan and the whole team.
— Sarah Skuse, Acting Assistant Principal – Religious Education (APRE), St Joseph's Murgon and St Patrick's Nanango
Yesterday was a really successful day and it was so wonderful to see the work that Jaime and Lilly did with the year level. I found them to be highly engaging across all areas. They knew how to grab the attention of the students and maintain their focus on what they were saying throughout the day. All activities were explained so well and it was great to see a visual example of all activities and they grouped the kids so well with students they wouldn’t usually work with. It was so heartwarming to see how students took on what was said in the morning and stepped up as leaders in the middle block. I think the lessons from yesterday will definitely sit with a lot of students as they enter high school.
Thank you to Jaime and Lilly for a great and very well and organised run day.
