To savour is to “enjoy or appreciate (something pleasant) to the full, especially by lingering over it” (Oxford Dictionary 2018). If you savour an experience, it is like swishing the experience around … in your mind (Bryant & Veroff 2006).

Why frequency is more important than intensity

“Happiness or wellbeing, is more strongly associated with the frequency and duration of people’s positive feelings, not with the intensity of those feelings” (Diener 2009).

As a result of our negativity bias (as outlined in last weeks blog), it might be easier for us to wallow in sadness, fear, anger or other negative emotions.

Negativity bias is the human tendency to notice and be more influenced by bad things and bad experiences, instead of neutral or positive experiences.
